BEDFORD, NH — A routine paving project turned tragic Monday morning after a 67-year-old Nashua man was fatally injured on the job.
Family members have identified the victim as Roger Hanson, a veteran crew member who died from his injuries following an accident on Maiden Lane.
According to officials, Hanson was working alongside several crew members on a residential driveway when he was struck by a paving roller. Emergency responders provided immediate medical treatment at the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Hanson was a dedicated employee of DLB, where he worked for more than two decades. To his co-workers, he wasn’t just a longtime employee — he was family.
In a statement released by his family, loved ones remembered him as a hardworking provider and a central pillar of their community.
“Roger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, but above all, he was a truly caring man who would help anyone,” his family shared. “He worked with DLB for more than 20 years and worked hard to provide for his family and the people he considered his adopted family. Roger leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Lori, along with 5 children and 5 grandchildren who are now facing this heartbreaking tragedy.”
Roger was a man who showed up every day for more than 20 years, who provided with his hands, his heart, and his hard work. Now, his wife Lori, his children, and his five grandchildren are left to navigate an unimaginable loss.
To support his family through the sudden loss, a GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist with funeral expenses and upcoming bills, allowing them to focus on grieving without the immediate burden of financial stress. Link can be found in the comment section.
The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation. Both the Bedford Police Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are currently reviewing the incident.
Our thoughts are with the family, co-workers, friends, and first responders who were on scene during this tragic accident.
Rest in Peace, Roger. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and hardworking man — gone too soon but never forgotten.
