MORGAN HILL, Calif. — A home on Vintage Lane — where three little hearts lived, laughed, and felt their mother’s love — is now the center of an unthinkable tragedy.
The Morgan Hill community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jasmyne Garcia, a mother of three, who was allegedly killed by her husband, Roy Anthony Lopez, 37, in a domestic violence homicide that has left a family shattered.
According to the Morgan Hill Police Department, the horror began at a residence in the 1100 block of Vintage Lane in Morgan Hill.
Investigators determined that Lopez allegedly left his three young children home alone — ages 14, 6 and 3 — before driving his critically injured wife to a San Jose hospital, where he reportedly confessed to killing her.
Roy Anthony Lopez, 37, was arrested after arriving at Good Samaritan Hospital at approximately 9:20 a.m. Saturday and telling staff that he had killed his wife.
Hospital employees went to Lopez’s vehicle and found an injured woman inside.
“First responders located an adult female victim inside a vehicle parked at the hospital. Paramedics provided immediate emergency medical care, but the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the Morgan Hill Police Department said.
San Jose police detained Lopez without incident until Morgan Hill officers arrived, took him into custody and transported him to Morgan Hill for questioning. He was later booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of murder under California Penal Code section 187(a).
Back at the Vintage Lane home, officers made a heartbreaking discovery — three children, ages 14, 6 and 3, alone at the home where their mother had just been taken from them.
The children were brought to the Morgan Hill Police Department before being “released into the custody of the Santa Clara County Department of Family and Children’s Services.”
Jasmyne Garcia was more than a victim. She was a mother. The mother who kissed three little faces goodnight, who filled that home on Vintage Lane with love. Now, those three hearts will have to grow up without their mother’s embrace.
Neighbors say Vintage Lane is usually a quiet street filled with families. Now it is marked by police tape and a tragedy that no one can comprehend.
