NORTHERN VIRGINIA — This is such a difficult post to make.
We are heartbroken to share the news that Allison Rivera, who played for The Northern Virginia Alliance U14 team, has sadly passed away.
A young athlete, a teammate, a friend, and a beloved daughter whose life was full of promise and years ahead — gone far too soon.
The news of Allison’s passing has sent waves of shock and deep sorrow through the entire Northern Virginia Alliance family and the greater Northern Virginia youth soccer community. What was once a field filled with her laughter, her determination, and her love for the game is now a place of quiet reflection and heartbreak.
Allison wore the Northern Virginia Alliance badge with pride. As a member of the U14 team, she represented more than just a player on a roster — she was part of a sisterhood. She was the teammate who lifted others up, who showed up for early practices, who gave her all on the pitch, and who shared in the unbreakable bond that only youth sports can create.
At the U14 level, soccer is about more than wins and losses. It is about friendship, growth, learning, and becoming part of something bigger than yourself. Allison embodied all of that. Coaches, teammates, and parents who had the privilege of watching her play will remember her not just for her skill, but for her spirit — the kind of spirit that makes a team a family.
To lose someone so young is a grief that is impossible to put into words. There are no answers that make sense of a childhood cut short. There is only the love that remains, the memories that will be held tightly, and the community that will now wrap itself around her family.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Allison’s family, teammates, friends, coaches, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
In the coming days, the Northern Virginia Alliance community will undoubtedly come together to honor Allison — through moments of silence, through tributes on the field, through jerseys worn with her name, and through the quiet moments where teammates remember their friend.
For her family, the loss is immeasurable. For her teammates, the absence will be felt in every huddle, every game, and every team gathering. For all who knew her, her memory will be a blessing that lives on.
Funeral arrangements and memorial service information for Allison Rivera will be announced by her family at a later date. The family has asked for privacy, love, and prayers as they navigate this unimaginable loss.
To Allison’s family — you are not alone. An entire soccer community, an entire region, is grieving with you and holding you in our hearts.
Rest peacefully, Allison, gone far too soon. You will forever be part of The Northern Virginia Alliance family. Once a teammate, always a teammate.
