DALLAS, Texas — A late-night shooting in the Deep Ellum neighborhood has left three people injured as Dallas police continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident early Sunday morning.
According to the Dallas Police Department, officers responded at approximately 1 a.m. to the area of Elm Street in Deep Ellum following reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they observed a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed.
Police said a passenger inside the vehicle later contacted 911 and reported that he had accidentally fired a firearm inside the car, causing panic and leading the vehicle to flee the scene.
Officers were able to locate and recover the firearm, and the individual was taken into custody for questioning as detectives work to determine the full details of what happened.
Three people were injured during the incident. Authorities have not released information about their identities or current medical conditions.
The shooting has raised concerns in the Deep Ellum community as investigators continue gathering evidence and speaking with those involved.
Officials said the investigation remains active, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
