SOUTH BANK, Teesside — The family and friends of Jacob Matusiak, 23, are mourning a young life tragically cut short in the devastating A66 collision near South Bank.
A heaven-themed memorial image has been shared in Jacob’s memory, describing him as “forever missed” and announcing a balloon release at South Bank field at 5 p.m. on Monday.
The tribute reflects the deep personal loss felt by Jacob’s loved ones. His sister remembered him as her “best friend, always and forever,” offering a heartbreaking glimpse into the bond they shared.
Jacob was one of five people travelling in a Volkswagen who died in the collision. Two serving Cleveland Police officers, PC Matthew Blades and PC Tom Clough, also lost their lives in the crash, bringing the total number of fatalities to seven.
The tragedy has left families across the Teesside area grieving as tributes continue to emerge for those who died. For Jacob’s loved ones, the focus now is on remembering the person behind the headlines and honoring the memories he leaves behind.
