LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville community is mourning after two women were fatally shot early Sunday morning at the Family Scholar House near the University of Louisville’s Belknap Campus, leaving families, residents, and neighbors searching for answers.
According to the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD), officers responded at approximately 1:44 a.m. to the 400 block of Reg Smith Circle following reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found two adult women suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the women, and no suspect has been publicly identified or announced as being in custody. The LMPD Homicide Unit is leading the investigation as detectives work to determine what led to the deadly shooting.
The incident prompted the University of Louisville to issue a temporary shelter-in-place alert overnight as police responded and secured the area. The alert was later lifted after officials determined there was no continued threat.
The tragic loss has sent shockwaves through the surrounding community, with many offering prayers and support for the victims’ families, children, loved ones, and everyone affected by the violence.
