TERREBONNE PARISH, La. — Three suspects have been arrested following a violent series of crimes in Terrebonne Parish that included a shooting, armed carjacking, robbery, and a dangerous multi-agency police pursuit that ended with the recovery of a stolen vehicle and firearm.
Authorities with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office said the incidents unfolded Sunday morning in the area of Al’s Trailer Court in Gray/Houma, leaving two adult male victims hospitalized with critical but stable injuries.
According to Sheriff Tim Soignet, deputies responded shortly before 11:25 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting at Al’s Trailer Court. When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was able to provide investigators with important information about the suspects before being transported to a local hospital, where he remains under medical care.
While deputies were responding to the first shooting, authorities received reports of another violent crime nearby. Investigators said an adult male was approached by two armed suspects who demanded his vehicle keys and cellphone. During the confrontation, the victim was shot before the suspects stole his vehicle and phone.
That victim was also transported to a hospital and remains in critical but stable condition.
Using witness accounts, investigative information, and database resources, law enforcement quickly located the stolen vehicle near Prospects Boulevard in Houma. A detective with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, assisted by officers from the Houma Police Department, attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspects fled.
The pursuit continued through Terrebonne and Lafourche Parishes, with authorities reporting that the suspects reached speeds exceeding 100 mph, ignored traffic signals, and drove recklessly, creating a dangerous situation for other motorists.
The chase ended when the stolen vehicle crashed near the intersection of Louisiana Highway 1 and Highway 308. Two suspects were taken into custody at the crash scene — William Lamar Jones, 19, of Lake Providence, and William Jennings, 28, of Lake Providence.
During a search of the vehicle, investigators recovered an AR-15-style rifle believed to have been used during the crimes. Authorities also discovered evidence they say connects the suspects to both crime scenes.
A third suspect, Kalaye Woods, 17, of Gray, was later identified during the investigation and taken into custody at a residence in Thibodaux. Authorities said Woods was involved in the initial shooting but was not believed to have participated in the later carjacking and shooting.
Investigators also uncovered evidence potentially linking the suspects to an armed robbery believed to have occurred the previous day.
Authorities said they believe all individuals involved have been identified and arrested, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. However, the investigation remains active as detectives continue reviewing evidence and conducting follow-up interviews.
Jones has been charged with multiple violent offenses, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder, carjacking, armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated flight from an officer, and reckless operation of a motor vehicle. He remains jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on a $1.75 million bond.
Jennings remains in Lafourche Parish custody and is expected to face charges, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder, carjacking, and armed robbery with a firearm, following his release to Terrebonne authorities.
Woods has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery with a firearm and remains jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on a $1.5 million bond.
Sheriff Soignet praised the coordinated response from multiple agencies, including the Houma Police Department, Louisiana State Police, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, Acadian Ambulance, and first responders, for their efforts in quickly locating and arresting the suspects.
“These were extremely violent and dangerous crimes that unfolded in a very short period of time,” officials said, emphasizing that investigators remain committed to ensuring those responsible are held accountable.
The case remains under investigation, and additional charges may be filed as detectives continue processing evidence.
Authorities remind the public that all arrested individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
