TWIN FALLS, Idaho — The Twin Falls community is mourning the loss of Terry Dudley, who has been identified as the first publicly named victim connected to the deadly mass shooting near the newly opened In-N-Out Burger on Saturday afternoon.
Dudley was confirmed by his employer as one of the victims injured during the violent attack that left three people dead, two others injured, and the suspected gunman deceased.
In a statement shared following the tragedy, Dudley’s employer asked the community to keep him and his loved ones in their thoughts and prayers.
According to people close to the victim, Dudley was reportedly charging his Tesla vehicle near the restaurant when he was struck during the shooting.
The attack unfolded shortly after 3:00 p.m. near the In-N-Out location in Twin Falls, which had only recently celebrated its grand opening on July 24. The sudden violence shocked residents, customers, and employees who were gathered in the busy area.
The Twin Falls Police Department, along with local, state, and federal agencies, responded quickly after receiving reports of an active shooter.
During an evening press conference, Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks confirmed that the shooting resulted in multiple deaths and injuries. Two additional victims were transported to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the remaining victims as investigators continue working to notify families and gather additional information.
Witnesses described a frightening scene as gunfire erupted near the restaurant. Videos shared from the area appeared to show an armed individual moving through the In-N-Out drive-thru while firing multiple rounds. Investigators are continuing to review evidence, surveillance footage, and witness statements to determine the full sequence of events.
The suspected shooter was later confirmed dead, though authorities have not released details about how the suspect died.
Following the attack, officials issued a temporary shelter-in-place order while law enforcement secured the area. The order was later lifted after authorities determined there was no longer an immediate threat to the public.
The investigation has involved multiple agencies, including the Twin Falls Police Department, Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho State Police, and the FBI.
Roads near the shooting scene, including areas around the Perrine Bridge, were temporarily closed as investigators processed evidence and worked to understand what led to the deadly violence.
As the investigation continues, the Twin Falls community is coming together to support the victims, their families, and everyone affected by the tragedy.
