EDMONSON COUNTY, KENTUCKY — The Bowling Green community is mourning the tragic loss of 20-year-old Dartel Long Jr., who died following a reported drowning at Nolin Lake on Sunday evening, July 19, 2026.

According to the Edmonson County Coroner’s Office, Long, a Bowling Green resident, was identified as the victim after emergency crews responded to the area of Juniper Lane, off Dickeys Mill Road, near Nolin Lake around dusk.

Authorities said emergency personnel were called to the scene as the incident unfolded, prompting a response from multiple agencies. The Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department, EMS, Edmonson County Emergency Management, the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office, and the United States Army Corps of Engineers all assisted with the emergency response.

Despite the efforts of those who responded, Long was pronounced deceased.
