The Redwood County, Minnesota, community is mourning the tragic loss of Craig Michael Baune, 48, who was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon.
According to the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 4:24 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, to the intersection of County State Aid Highway 46 and County State Aid Highway 8 following reports of a motorcycle crash.
Preliminary findings indicate that Baune was riding his motorcycle when he lost control while navigating a curve in the roadway. Investigators said the motorcycle left the roadway and entered a roadside ditch, where it collided with a road sign.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but Baune suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The exact circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. Authorities have not released additional details regarding whether speed, road conditions, mechanical issues, or other factors may have contributed to the collision.
