According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened shortly before 4:00 p.m. on July 18, 2026, near the intersection of U.S. 50 and Smokey Road in Jackson Township.

Authorities said preliminary findings indicate that an 18-year-old driver was traveling northeast on U.S. 50 in a Toyota Corolla when the vehicle crossed left of the center line and entered the path of oncoming traffic for reasons that remain under investigation.
