HAMMOND, LOUISIANA — The Hammond community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Kaleb Bishop and Brittany Novak, two people who died following a fatal motorcycle crash Saturday evening on West Thomas Street near the Chanell Shopping Center.

According to the Hammond Police Department, the deadly collision happened at approximately 6:45 p.m. on July 18, 2026, when officers responded to reports of a serious motorcycle crash involving injuries.

When emergency crews arrived, they found both riders critically injured at the scene. Despite lifesaving efforts, Kaleb Bishop and Brittany Novak were pronounced dead at the location of the crash.

Police identified Bishop and Novak as the two people who were riding the motorcycle at the time of the collision. The sudden loss of both individuals has left family members, friends, and members of the Hammond community grieving as they remember their lives and the memories they shared.

According to the preliminary investigation, the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when the operator attempted to pass another vehicle. Investigators said the motorcycle entered the intersection during the maneuver and collided with another vehicle.
