NOEL, MISSOURI — The Rogers Police Department and communities across the region are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Officer Fred Marsh, a 24-year-old first-year police officer who died in a tragic drowning incident on the Elk River near Noel, Missouri.
A massive search operation began Saturday night after authorities received reports of a man believed to have drowned in the river. The search continued as emergency crews worked to locate the missing individual, who was later confirmed to be Officer Marsh.
The Rogers Police Department announced that Marsh, who had recently begun his law enforcement career, was the person recovered from the river. He had graduated from the law enforcement academy in April and was serving as a dedicated member of the department.
Rogers Police Chief Jonathan Best shared the department’s grief following Marsh’s unexpected passing, describing the loss as devastating for everyone who knew and worked alongside him.
“This is a heartbreaking loss for our department,” Chief Best said. “Officer Marsh had a bright future ahead of him and had already made a positive impact on those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.”
