NORRIDGEWOCK, MAINE — The Norridgewock community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Joshua Poissonnier, 37, who died following a tragic motorcycle crash Monday morning that left family, friends, and loved ones devastated.
According to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal collision happened at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Bridge Street when Poissonnier was traveling north on his motorcycle and a vehicle reportedly entered his path while turning from River Road.
Investigators said a Jeep Liberty turning at the intersection failed to yield, resulting in a collision with Poissonnier’s motorcycle. The impact caused him to be thrown from the motorcycle, leaving him with serious injuries.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, and Poissonnier was transported to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, where he later passed away from his injuries.
The driver of the Jeep, a 34-year-old individual, sustained minor injuries in the crash. Authorities continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the collision, with prosecutors expected to determine whether any charges will be pursued.
Investigators said preliminary findings indicate that driver inattention and failure to yield may have contributed to the crash. Officials stated that alcohol or drug impairment is not believed to have been a factor.
