Jacob Tran Obituary: 14-Year-Old Beaverton Student and Aspiring Football Player Dies After Tragic Electric Scooter Crash

BEAVERTON, OREGON — The Beaverton community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jacob Tran, 14, a young student, athlete, and friend whose life was tragically cut short following a devastating crash at the intersection of Southwest Scholls Ferry Road and Southwest Barrows Road.

Candles, flowers, photographs, and messages of love now surround the area where friends and community members have gathered to remember Jacob. On Thursday, dozens of people came together to pray, share memories, and honor a teenager described as kind, hardworking, and someone who brought happiness to everyone around him.

According to the Beaverton Police Department, Jacob was riding an electric scooter through the crosswalk while wearing a helmet when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old driver on Wednesday morning. Jacob was transported for medical care but later died from his injuries.

Authorities said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The crash remains under investigation as officials continue working to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic collision.

Jacob was preparing to begin his freshman year at Mountainside High School and was on his way to a summer football workout when the accident occurred. His teammates and friends are now left grieving the loss of a young athlete who had already made a powerful impact on those around him.

Friends remembered Jacob as someone who could brighten any room. They described him as caring, supportive, and the type of person who could turn someone’s bad day around with a conversation, a smile, or a simple act of kindness.

“He was kind, always brought a smile to people,” friends shared while gathering at the memorial created in his honor.

Jacob’s football teammates said his dedication and determination inspired those around him. They remembered his passion for the sport, his willingness to work hard, and his refusal to give up even when challenges were difficult.

Those who knew Jacob said his character went far beyond football. He was a beloved friend, teammate, classmate, and family member whose presence brought comfort and joy to many people.

As the Beaverton community continues to grieve, friends and loved ones are coming together to support Jacob’s family and preserve the memory of the teenager who meant so much to them. A fundraiser has been created to assist his family during this heartbreaking time.

Although Jacob Tran’s life ended far too soon, his kindness, determination, and the memories he created will continue to live on through everyone who knew him.

Jacob Tran will be deeply missed by his family, friends, teammates, and the entire Beaverton community. His smile, his heart, and the impact he made in just 14 years will never be forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace.
