CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A Corpus Christi family is mourning the loss of a loved one after a 45-year-old man was found dead inside a home following a shooting on the city’s south side.
The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as Fredrick Almanza III, 45.
According to Corpus Christi police, officers responded to the 3800 block of Marion Street around 5:56 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, following reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they discovered Almanza dead inside the residence.
Corpus Christi police arrested Alex Borrego, 45, on a murder charge after officers responding to the 5:56 p.m. call found 45-year-old Fredrick Almanza III dead at a residence in the 3800 block of Marion Street.
A 45-year-old man remains held on a $1 million bond following the Oct. 3 fatal shooting in Corpus Christi, according to law enforcement authorities.
Investigators detained several people at the scene for questioning. Following witness interviews at police headquarters, detectives placed Borrego under arrest. He was booked into the Nueces County Jail on Oct. 4.
After interviewing the individuals detained, Alex Borrego (45) was placed under arrest for murder. Borrego was transported to the city detention center for booking. The case remains active and ongoing.
Police have not released details regarding a motive or indicated whether Borrego and Almanza knew each other. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Borrego is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
