The Reading community is seeking answers following a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a 32-year-old man, as authorities announce the arrest of a suspect in connection with the tragic incident.
According to the Reading Police Department, officers have arrested 43-year-old Federico Perez Polanco of Reading in connection with Sunday’s fatal shooting in the 1400 block of North 5th Street.
Investigators allege that Perez Polanco fled Pennsylvania following the shooting and traveled to New Jersey, where he was taken into custody during a coordinated operation involving local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Authorities said he was arrested while preparing to board a flight to the Dominican Republic.
Officials stated that Perez Polanco is awaiting extradition back to Pennsylvania, where he is expected to face a charge of first-degree murder.
