SHARON, Pa. — With broken hearts, the Sharon community is mourning the tragic and unexpected passing of 24-year-old Billy E. Colwell, whose life came to a heartbreaking end after he was struck by a crossbow arrow.
Early Thursday morning, shortly after 1 a.m., Sharon police officers responded to the 200 block of South Myers Avenue after receiving a report that a man had been struck in the shoulder by a crossbow arrow.
Officers arrived and found Colwell critically injured. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, but despite medical efforts, he later died from his injuries.
Mercer County Coroner John Libonati confirmed that Colwell was struck by a crossbow arrow. Authorities have not yet released details about what led to the incident or how it occurred.
The Sharon Police Department and the Mercer County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Colwell’s death. Police Chief Edward Stabile said there is no danger to the community.
