KANSAS CITY, Missouri — The Kansas City community is mourning the tragic loss of Nevada Mosley, who was killed in a fatal shooting inside a residence early Saturday morning.
Authorities with the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) identified Mosley as the victim while homicide detectives continue working to find the person responsible for her death.
Police responded at approximately 6:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, after receiving reports of a shooting near 56th Street and Agnes Avenue.
When officers arrived at the residence, they discovered an unresponsive adult woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began providing emergency medical assistance before Kansas City Fire Department EMS personnel arrived and continued lifesaving efforts.
Mosley was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead despite medical treatment.
Following the shooting, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators remained at the residence for several hours, gathering evidence, documenting the scene, and speaking with potential witnesses as they worked to piece together what happened.
According to investigators, preliminary information suggests that Mosley and the suspect were known to each other before the shooting. Police believe an argument inside the residence escalated into gunfire, leading to Mosley’s death. The suspect reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived.
Authorities have not released the identity of the suspect, and no arrests have been announced. Investigators have also not disclosed a possible motive behind the deadly confrontation.
The Kansas City Police Department says the investigation remains active and that detectives are continuing efforts to identify and locate the individual responsible.
