HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — The northeast Harris County community is mourning the tragic death of Felton Joseph, who was killed in a hit-and-run crash while riding his bicycle early Sunday morning.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal collision happened shortly after midnight as Joseph was riding westbound along Wallisville Road.
Deputies said Joseph was riding on an unimproved shoulder north of the roadway when he was struck from behind by a vehicle believed to be an unknown-color 2013–2015 Nissan Altima.
Investigators said the Nissan was traveling westbound when it failed to remain in a single lane, left the roadway, and struck the bicyclist. The driver then reportedly fled the scene without stopping to provide assistance.
First responders arrived and found Joseph deceased, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities noted that Joseph’s bicycle did not have the appropriate lighting and that he had been riding along the unimproved shoulder. Investigators, however, continue to examine the circumstances of the crash and are working to identify the driver who left the scene.
The case remains under investigation, and authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information about the Nissan Altima or its driver to come forward.
For Joseph’s family and friends, the circumstances surrounding his death have added another layer of heartbreak to an already devastating loss.
Felton Joseph will be remembered as authorities continue searching for answers and working to hold the driver responsible for this tragic Harris County hit-and-run.
