Coastal Carolina University Student Kalina Trent, 21, Dies After Tragic Hit-and-Run on Highway 544

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Coastal Carolina University community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Kalina Trent, 21, who died after being struck in a reported hit-and-run crash on Highway 544 near Elvington Loop last weekend.

Trent’s passing has left family, friends, classmates, and members of the university community devastated as they remember a young woman whose life was taken far too soon.

In a deeply emotional tribute, Kalina was honored Saturday during an Honor Walk at Grand Strand Medical Center, where loved ones gathered to celebrate her life and the generosity she showed through organ donation. Her final act of kindness will allow others to receive the gift of life and continue her legacy of compassion.

The tragic crash has sparked an outpouring of support for Kalina’s family and those who knew her. Friends and fellow students are remembering her for the memories she created, the relationships she built, and the impact she made during her time at Coastal Carolina University.
