CHAGUARAMAS, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO — The Chaguaramas community is mourning the tragic loss of Koby Daniel Thomas, whose life ended in a violent homicide that has left residents shocked and authorities searching for answers.
Thomas was identified as the man found dead along a roadway in Chaguaramas earlier this week in what investigators believe may have been an execution-style killing. His death has brought grief to his family, friends, and loved ones as police continue working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the fatal attack.
According to authorities, Thomas’ body was discovered at approximately 8:10 a.m. on Monday, July 6, after a private security officer traveling to a tracking facility on Mount St. Catherine noticed a man lying motionless along the roadway.
The security officer stopped to investigate and discovered Thomas suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot injury. Police later confirmed that Thomas died from a gunshot wound to the back of the head, raising concerns that the killing may have been deliberate and targeted.
Officers from the Region One Homicide Bureau, along with crime scene investigators, responded to the location and processed the scene as part of an active murder investigation. Evidence was collected, and detectives began efforts to determine what led to Thomas’ death.
Authorities described Thomas as a man of African descent, light brown in complexion, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a muscular build. He was known for his distinctive Rastafarian-style locks with red braids woven throughout his hair.
Investigators also noted several identifying tattoos on Thomas, including the word “LULU” above a multi-colored rectangular design near his right chest, along with markings resembling Arabic script on both shoulders.
At the time he was found, Thomas was reportedly wearing black Calvin Klein boxer shorts and black rubber slippers. Police also recovered several personal items from the area, including clothing, wristbands, earphones, and other belongings that may assist investigators in piecing together the events before his death.
News of Thomas’ killing has sparked concern throughout the Chaguaramas area, as residents await answers and hope for justice. Family members and loved ones are left grieving the loss of a life taken under tragic and violent circumstances.
